Our Inspiration

IASWCD’s hugely successful ‘Pathway to Water Quality’ exhibit, which demonstrates how land use decisions in a variety of land use areas impact the waters of Indiana.

La Porte SWCD sought a demonstration area to bring the same message to La Porte County.

The La Porte County Fair is visited by over 90,000 people annually; a great opportunity to spread the SWCD message:  we are all landusers & can make changes to improve our water quality!

With permission from the La Porte County Fair Board, we targeted the area between the Conservation Building and the Small Projects Building.

Proximity to our new office space allows us to expand our education outreach programs for school and other community groups.

Funding for this project was provided in part by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and the Indiana Department of Natural Resources, Lake Michigan Coastal Program.
